Donggala, C Sulawesi Port To Operate By 2016

Donggala, C Sulawesi, Oct 7 (Antara) - Donggala port, in Banawa district, Central Sulawesi province, will operate by early 2016 as a passenger port.

The construction of Donggala port is currently at the final stage of the passenger terminal construction, which is expected to be completed by December 2015, Head administration of Donggala Kasman Lassa, said here Wednesday.

"We are trying to complete the passenger terminal at Donggala by December 2015," Lassa said.

Besides being a passenger port, Donggala will also be operated as a cargo port, he said.

"It is important to increase and speed up economic growth," he said.

The operation of Donggala as passenger port is motivation and spirit to boost local development, Lassa added.

Donggala port is located about 30 kilometers north of the capital city of Palu, on the west side of Palu Bay.

Donggala has an area of 12890.8 square kilometers and has a population of around 466,898.
